Interior barn doors are on our list to have someday. Someday seems to be the theme for me at the moment. I am always on the look out for that special design or item that I will execute or have someday. It is always exciting when that someday comes and a design idea I have had for a long time happens! Or I find that special item out of the blue with out looking. Barn doors have been an obsession since I was a little girl. My Grandfather had them on his beautiful barn in West Tisbury, on Martha's Vineyard Mass. My grandparents owned and lovingly restored this farm since the 1940's. Here are some of my favorite barn doors.

Growing up I spent a lot of time on my grandparent's farm and consequently, also love a beautiful barn door. I had no idea how one could be used in so many different kinds of spaces! (and in so many colors!) Thanks so much for all the great inspiration!! I love these images!

I love barn doors- actually come to think about it they would be the perfect way to hide the BF's office without taking up space because they slide. Too bad its only a rental, otherwise i would be all over trying to find a pretty door. Hopefully someday I'll have my own space to work with :)

You have given me the greatest idea! I have always loved barn doors & the wonderful heavy hardware. I have always thought that they could add charm to the most boring box of a room.
A couple of your photos show them appearing to slide across a long wall. I have a few of those!
It's not a hall but a tight traffic-way. Art get's lost & there is no room for even a library table. Now i am thinking secret storage behind charming barn doors.

I too had been working on this post but love your photos, many of which I have never seen so thanks! Do you have any experience with installing these? I have spec'd it out once or twice to a client (via the carpenter) and it was too pricey. I was wondering if you had a good source for the bar door hardware?

I, too, would be interestd in a source for the hardware,especially if it would support shelves instead of a door.
These are wonderful and inspirational, thank you for posting them. I'm getting ready to do one but I need a door that splits in the middle because I have scones on both sides of the opening...it's a closet door that steps up...any information would be great! I'm thinking glass maybe although I'd rather have wood. 18" Width x 84" Height...odd size of course....so custom. Thanks! Luanne
